Such a remarkable species, the Rhododendron ponticum. The only places where it exists is Eastern Iberia (Georgia and some surrounding countries) and Western Iberia (Portugal and Spain). During the Tertiary Era, it occurred all along the northern mediterranean; after the Quaternary glaciations, it face d extinction everywhere but in the two iberias...

Thank you for the info, Pedro, I did not know that this species is growing in Western Iberia as well.
