Staying connected mobile + internet in Tbilisi,Georgia

chewsure telefon 800

Mainly we have three mobile service providers in Georgia:

Magti http://www.magticom.ge/index.php?section=8&lang=eng

Magti on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/magticom.ge

Go to the customer office on 22 Rustaveli Avenue or to one of these other offices

Geocell http://www.geocell.ge/en/

Beeline http://mobile.beeline.ge/en/main/store/offices.wbp?settlement=07815cfb-c6b1-4133-9138-0c963fa93b5d

Beeline on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/beeline.ge

How to connect you to the Internet with a Mobile Services Provider in Georgia !

Get your SIM-Card in one of their Offices and take your Passport with you. The SIM-Card costs approximately 3-5 GEL. As you probably want to surf with your smart phone, say that you want to enable the 3G services, these are not by default enabled.

At Magti for example the standard cost per received or sent Megabyte is 70 tetri (~ 32 Cents) , but in case you purchase a internet package you will enjoy a pretty big rebate tariff.

For example, if you take a package of  500 MB for 15 GEL you pay only 3 tetri per MB. So don't forget to do so, more info about the various packages here

http://www.magticom.ge/index.php?section=67&lang=eng

To recharge your phone with funds you can either buy prepaid cards or use one of the many newly installed service terminals on the streets and in many food stores. Locals will gladly help you how to do so.

Any comments ?

Great Tours we offer you in Georgia 2012

2012 will be a great year for tourism in Georgia because many obstacles of infrastructure are history. Imagine, now we have Georgia on Google maps, good roads, many renovated tourists spots as well as lots of hidden gems in the country where no one yet goes. Georgia is extremely open to every foreigner visiting the country, no matter where he's from. Georgian hospitality counts for every guest not regarding color, religion, origin, whatever. Most countries do not need a Visa to enter Georgia and it is even very easy to set up your own business here.

Georgians are proud to live in one of the brightest countries of the world regarding history and culture, tradition and innovation as well as natural diversity, delicious food and wine. Georgia is not the cheapest destination anymore but by far not expensive yet. Welcome to Georgia !

Two books on the Caucasus Theme, highly recommended

1. Kavkas / Kaukasus by Thomas Dworzak - a wonderful book of b/w photography from the conflicts in the Caucasus by appraised Magnum photographer Thomas Dworzak, this book gets my personal highest recommendation for everybody loving the Caucasus region and its history of tragic and heroism

2. Georgian Spring - A Magnum Journal

Did you know Robert Capa made some great photography in Georgia and Cartier-Bresson photographed Rustavi ?

Enjoy this fantastic photo book with the famous Magnum photographers Martine Franck, Martin Power, Alex Majoli, Martin Parr, Alec Soth, Thomas Dworzak, Jonas Bendiksen, Antoine D'Agata, Gueorgui Pinkhassov and Paolo Pellegrin with an Essay by well known Author Wendell Steavenson.

Some of my favorite photography in this book is by Mark Powers, Anione D'Agata and Martin Parr, not diminishing the other artists searching for the hidden images of the New Georgia.
