Interesting article, a bit simplified, but the question after finishing it: why then Russia is not after Armenia or Azerbaijan, but trying to "hit" poor Georgians? Why it's accepted the independance of other republics (including Caucasian), but according to the author "Russian public opinion cannot swallow the idea of an independent Georgia"? Isn't it weird?

The author forgot to mention that the "great terror" in USSR was executed by 2 georgians: Stalin and Beriya.

The article is interesting. Of course, it shows only some faces of the Russian-Georgian problem, but it´s only a short article! I agree with mikw that the idea of Russia not accepting independence of Georgia is not very logical. But he tries to look at the problem with a kind of objetivity.
